Austin-based Stefan Keydel has been creating and performing music in a variety of genres since the age of 14, beginning with the inevitable teenage rock band all the way up to the present day. Along the way, he has performed in bands located in the traditions of indie rock, electronic (including the legendary but ill-fated Tool & Die), old time stringband, Southern gothic, and Americana.
Currently playing fiddle with both The Boxcar Preachers and The Victor Mourning, when Stefan closes himself off in his home studio, the result is more frequently synth-based, hauntology-infused electro pop and ambient, with an occasional acoustic guitar tune thrown in just to keep things honest.
After spending a number of years in the woodshed, Stefan, recording under the name Skotchi, has begun to put out his music in drips and drops, with “Very Small Songs” being the first of several planned EPs to be released this year. Sharing this music is a personal goal he has had for a number of years; if folks enjoy it, so much the better! All of his material is free to listen to and download from Bandcamp (specific releases) and Soundcloud (individual tracks). Please let him know if you enjoy what you hear, and if so, please share more widely!
